Why won't your car start?

You can certainly get your car jump started but we don't recommend that you make it a habit just to avoid the underlying problem. You might be surprised that the problem is an easy and inexpensive fix.

Following, are 8 reasons why your car may not be starting:

  • Human Error - You might have left the lights on or the key was still in the ignition and you thought you turned the car all the way off.
  • Faulty Drain - A security alarm running at all times does use battery power, but sometimes these items can drain the battery if there's an electrical problem.
  • Problems with Charging - Charging that is faulty may be caused by your alternator having worn out tensioners, or loose belts that prevent it from working correctly.
  • Alternator Failing - Your alternator's job is to recharge the battery, but if it has a bad "diode", the recharging doesn't stop even if you turn off the car.
  • Too Hot or Too Cold - If your car is above 100 degrees fahrenheit or below 6 degrees, your battery may not be willing to work for you. Especially if your car is left in those temperatures for a long period of time.
  • Too Many Short Drives - Starting the car uses the most battery power, so taking a lot of short drives can wear your battery down sooner than if you were to take longer drives, less often.
  • Battery Cables - If connections in your battery are loose or damaged, the car cannot send a charge or recharge while driving. Check connections for signs of damage and loose cables.
  • Battery is Aged - It's possible that you simply need a new battery as the one you have is expiring. RIP.

5-stars for our Mobile Locksmith Service

"Called this company and they were there very fast. The locksmith contacted me directly after being dispatched. He was kind, professional and easy to work with. I would have liked to have known what the bill was going to be before they did the work but I was in need and glad they were able to come quick."
